We Can’t Forget

Okay, folks, I understand that it’s been a few weeks since you’ve seen the funny, light-hearted Steve. Bear with me one more week. After that, I promise E-ticket entertainment value with theological truths worthy of Zwingli (my favorite Swiss reformer based on name-pronunciation-fun alone). But that will come next week. For today, I’m still too ticked about the senate down-vote for the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. It’s not time yet to move on.

Those who voted against this bill offering the basic right to life to babies who are out of the womb and still living following a botched late-term abortion need to be called out and recognized. Just to be clear, nobody actually voted against the bill itself. It was never allowed to come to a vote. Instead, the bill was killed in a procedural motion that need a 60-member vote to pass. What was included in this pernicious bill that had to be quashed before a vote could be taken? Surely, it must have turned back Roe v. Wade, while defunding Planned Parenthood. Or maybe it severely restricted abortion rights. Or maybe it somewhat restricted abortion rights. Or maybe it mentioned abortion rights just in passing.

This bill had nothing to do with abortion rights. Instead, it had everything to do with saving the lives of out in the world, breathing babies. Here are the five main points of the bill:

  1. The bill would provide criminal penalties for doctors who allow infants to die rather than providing medical care after attempted abortion procedures.
  2. The bill mandates that a child born alive in an abortion clinic be transported to a hospital for further care.
  3. The bill would require health-care practitioners to report any violations of the law.
  4. The bill institutes penalties for intentionally killing a newborn, including fines and up to five years’ imprisonment.
  5. The bill grants the woman on whom the abortion is performed civil cause of action against the abortionist and protection from prosecution if her child is not cared for after birth.[1]

If you think that I am glossing over some secret wording or hidden amendments, just click here to read it for yourself. Rarely will you find something coming out of Washington this straightforward and simply worded. This bill is one hundred percent about saving the lives of babies. And forty-four U.S. senators voted against it. So, let’s throw out some names.

Every democrat in the senate voted against it, except for three. Those three who voted for the bill were Joe Manchin (West Virginia), Bob Casey (Pennsylvania), and Doug Jones (Alabama). So click here to see the smiling faces of all the senators who voted to allow infanticide, including the second picture in the list – our own Colorado senator, Michael Bennet. None of these people ever deserve your support again.

All Republican senators voted for the procedural motion, except for three who missed the vote. Kevin Cramer (North Dakota) and Tim Scott (South Carolina) had travel issues. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) claimed a family commitment, but she has been wishy-washy on abortion in the past.

President Trump made his views supporting the bill very clear via Twitter – “Senate Democrats just voted against legislation to prevent the killing of newborn infant children. The Democrat position on abortion is now so extreme that they don’t mind executing babies AFTER birth. This will be remembered as one of the most shocking votes in the history of Congress. If there is one thing we should all agree on, it’s protecting the lives of innocent babies.”[2][3]Every democrat senator running for president voted against it – Cory Booker, Kirsten Gillibrand, Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar, Elizabeth Warren, and Bernie Sanders. Read one more time what the bill said, then read these names again. 2020 is a year away – do not forget what they just did.

This is not a pro-Trump blog post. This is an anti-infanticide blog post. Quashing that bill was a milestone in the history of our nation. This was the moment that the killing of newborns was protected by a segment of our government. We in the Church – we as moral human beings – cannot let this just slip by into the din of partisan noise. This wasn’t a partisan issue, this was right vs. wrong. Let’s pray, let’s remember, and let’s vote accordingly.

Abortion is a real “sore point” with me. God created children, intending them to be born into His world. They are a blessing. No one has the right to murder them ! We humans, created by God, are given “free will” AND common sense . We know what causes pregnancy ! It is not the water we drink !
NOW the schools want to assume parents responsibility to teach our children about sex , including LGBT ! Age of the child does not seem to be important either. COME ON, FOLKS ! Let’s all stand together for what is right and fight against what is not the will of our God !

Outrageous. No vote for Bennet, he wants to run for president 2020. God help us.
